NECMETTİN ÖZLÜ

NECMETTİN ÖZLÜ (1950), Galeri Soyut’un temsil ettiği sanatçılardan biridir. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 491 eseri ve 60 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2002–2026). Necmettin Özlü was born in Trabzon in 1950. After completing his primary and secondary education in Trabzon, he graduated from Trabzon High School in 1967. In 1972, he received his Master of Science degree from Karadeniz Technical University, Faculty of Earth Sciences. The same year, he went to Paris with a state scholarship and received his doctorate degree from the University of Paris in 1978. The artist's academic career continued with an assistantship at Ege University and a faculty membership at the University of Science and Technology of Algiers. Ending his academic career in 1987 to step into professional painting, Özlü opened his first exhibition in Algiers in 1985 and developed his interest in art there.

Starting his professional painting studies in the 1980s, Necmettin Özlü has developed landscapes and figurative compositions reflecting his own inner world, placing nature and human landscapes at the center of his artistic production. While the artist's landscape paintings reflect the process of exploring his own inner journey through nature, the figures and spaces in his works reveal the complexity of human relations and the projections of mood on the canvas. The concern for geometric order and the natural states of the figures, frequently observed in Özlü's works, add depth and meaning to his pieces.

Since 1987, Necmettin Özlü has continued his work as a freelance painter, first in Ankara, and then for 20 years in Brussels and Paris. Throughout his career, the artist has opened 35 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in cities such as Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Algiers, Brussels, Ghent, Paris, and New York. His works are included in the collection of the Algiers State Museum of Fine Arts, as well as in Turkish diplomatic missions and domestic and foreign collections. Özlü is a member of the UNESCO AIAP Turkish National Committee of Plastic Arts and is recognized internationally through this association.

Özlü's art has attracted the attention of critics with its extraordinary style. Through his landscapes and figurative works, Özlü delves deeply into the inner world of nature and man, inviting the viewer into their own imaginary journeys. Özlü exalts the natural and purified state of the human body in his paintings, which enables his works to gain both artistic and cultural depth. The artist's works take shape based on imagination, independent of models, and create a dreamlike effect on the viewer.

Necmettin Özlü has won many awards throughout his art life; among these is the honorary diploma he received at the 1st Algiers Biennale. The artist's works encompass a wide range of themes, from complex human relations to the depiction of nature, and generally establish a balance between figurative compositions and geometric orders. Currently continuing his work in his studio in Ankara, Necmettin Özlü is represented by Galeri Soyut and holds a respectable place in the art world.
