KADİR ŞİŞGİNOĞLU

KADİR ŞİŞGİNOĞLU (1962), Galeri Soyut’un temsil ettiği sanatçılardan biridir. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 87 eseri ve 20 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2020–2026). Kadir Şişginoğlu was born in 1962 in the village of Sarıkaya, in the Sungurlu district of Çorum. He completed his primary education at Sunguroğlu Primary School in 1972, Ankara Aktepe Secondary School in 1976, and Aktepe High School in 1979. After graduating from the Department of Painting at Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education in 1983, he completed his master's degree at the Karadeniz Technical University Institute of Social Sciences in 2000. Following his education, Şişginoğlu worked as an art teacher for 12 years and was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Painting at Karadeniz Technical University Fatih Faculty of Education in 1995. He still continues this position and has held 29 solo exhibitions to date, participating in nearly 400 group, competitive, and mixed exhibitions.

His introduction to art began at an early age by making wooden toys. His interest in weaving carpets and rugs on the looms in his grandparents' house in the village was one of his first artistic discoveries. However, the event that fully unleashed this passion for art was a negative experience in secondary school; a painting teacher denying a painting he had made, insulting him, and tearing it up triggered Şişginoğlu's desire to embrace art even more tightly. Although he was one of the best painting students in his high school, as a science student he also showed success in social fields. By chance, he took and passed the talent exams of the Gazi University Department of Painting; this event marked the beginning of his art career.

Adopting a human- and culture-oriented approach in his art, Şişginoğlu combines the geometric abstract and lyrical expression of graphic art in his paintings. He explores themes such as urban texture, cultural imagery, historical structures, and pigeons in his works. The artist reflects these objective realities in a contemporary miniature language, using materials such as oil and acrylic, in a way that creates a perception of depth on two-dimensional planes. His interest in Art History has been a passion since high school, and this interest deepened further with the education he received at Gazi University.

Kadir Şişginoğlu sees art not only as a language of emotion, but also as a language of culture. For him, art is a tool that reflects the human world of thought and interiority. In this context, he brings together human-focused observation, culture-focused examination, and the traces of a ten-thousand-year cultural heritage in his paintings. The artist summarizes his artistic approach with the statement, "Painting is not only a language of emotion for me, but also a language of culture. By speaking with this language of emotion and culture, I try to get rid of my human burdens and purify myself from excesses."

Having won six national awards in his art career, Şişginoğlu achieved successes such as the Ministry of Culture Zonguldak Painting Competition Jury Special Award and 2nd place in the İşçi Gündemi Newspaper Painting Competition in 1989. The artist, whose works are found in the collections of public and private institutions, has also participated in international workshops and national art projects. Şişginoğlu's works are exhibited in various galleries in Turkey and abroad; most recently, he marked his 40-year career with the exhibition titled "Traces from 40 Years". On the occasion of his 30th year in art, a book titled “Dost Elinden Dost Dilinden Kadir Şişginoğlu” was published about him by Kıyı Yayınları.
