DERYA YILDIZ

DERYA YILDIZ (1971), Galeri Soyut’un temsil ettiği sanatçılardan biridir. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 226 eseri ve 35 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2019–2026). Derya Yıldız was born in Ankara in 1971 and began her art education at Gazi Education Faculty, Department of Painting and Crafts Teaching. Graduating with honors, Yıldız has both worked as an educator in the field of visual arts and intensely pursued her artistic production. Having held seventeen solo exhibitions to date, the artist has also taken part in numerous art fairs and international workshops, and participated in various group exhibitions domestically and abroad.

Depicting the unique existential struggle of the modern woman and this process in her art, Yıldız focuses on the contemporary woman by using various instruments in her works. In these works, she brings the life of woman together with the harmony of colors and shapes. One of the striking elements in the artist's recent works is that the female figures are shaped with strong brush patterns alongside stains. This demonstrates that she handles feminine harmony as a whole on the canvas and expresses this quest for harmony through her art.

While stylizing female figures, Derya Yıldız tells a story coming from the past to the present day. She processes women's historical journeys, cultural heritages, and the experiences they have gained in this process in her art. Drawing inspiration particularly from Anatolian culture, she reflects fertility goddesses onto canvases by blending them with music and cranes. These elements create a deep layer of meaning in Yıldız's works and ensure that female figures are presented to the viewer as powerful, colorful, and vocal entities.

The artist continues her work in her studio in Ankara and reaches wider audiences thanks to her collaboration with Galeri Soyut. Her presence in this gallery serves as an important bridge in bringing her artistic productions together with the viewer.
