HATİCE ARAS

HATİCE ARAS (1962), Galeri Soyut’un temsil ettiği sanatçılardan biridir. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 79 eseri ve 22 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2018–2026). Hatice Aras was born in İzmir. In 1987, she graduated from 9 Eylül Education Faculty, Department of Painting and Crafts. Having held 12 solo exhibitions, the artist has participated in numerous group exhibitions and events. Her works are included in domestic and international collections—in New York, England, Germany, South Korea, Ireland, and Tunisia—as well as private collections. The artist continues her work in her studio in Beyoğlu, İstanbul. Starting from the traditional reverse glass painting technique, the artist has brought a contemporary and unique interpretation to this technique. In her works, where the female figure plays the leading role, Hatice Aras questions the connection of women with their bodies, femininity, sexuality, maternity, and fertility. She has envisioned women who step outside the bodily norms imposed by the system, who can exist freely within their own bodies, and who can enjoy themselves. While these women distance themselves from the reality of life for a moment to enjoy the present, they simultaneously experience the melancholy of not easily attaining this freedom considering today's conditions. Their moods shift; dreams, colors, spaces, and sounds change; yet the woman's passion for her essence and inner joy remains unchanged. The brilliance and transparency of glass provide a luminous foundation for the stories Hatice Aras tells. Glass, which can simultaneously serve as both a strong and delicate medium, combines with the vibrant colors and rich compositions used by the artist, reflecting the beauty of contrast in our stories of womanhood.
