Sertap Yeğin was born in Erzurum in 1974. After graduating from the Painting Department of Uludağ University Faculty of Education in 1999, she completed her master's degree in the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2003. In 2018, she worked as an assistant to the renowned painter Odd Nerdrum, deepening her expertise in classical painting techniques. She combines the classical painting tradition with a modern perspective; her paintings, which gain depth through the interplay of light and shadow in her figurative compositions, present an aesthetic independent of time and space. Moving beyond everyday reality, she chooses to depict human nature and emotional experiences in a simple form. In Sertap Yeğin’s works, the figures that meet the light are usually female figures, and these figures glide toward the light out of a dark background. Yeğin has taken part in many national and international exhibitions and has won awards. The Şefik Bursalı Painting Competition Achievement Award, the Heart Foundation Painting Competition Honorable Mention, and the World Wide Kitsch 2022 Composition First Prize are among the important achievements in the artist's career. Prominent solo exhibitions by the artist include "Gidenlerin Ardından" at Galeri Soyut in 2017, "Düşler Coğrafyasından İzler" at Beyoğlu Akademililer Sanat Merkezi and Summart Sanat Merkezi in 2014, and "Tende Işık ve Karanlık" at Galeri Soyut in 2013. Continuing her work in her studio in Bursa, Sertap Yeğin creates a language that invites viewers to explore man's inner journey, universal emotions, and the purest states of human nature in her paintings.
