She graduated from Atatürk University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting as the top-ranking student of the faculty in 2003. In 2006, she completed the Master's Program in the Department of Painting at the Institute of Social Sciences of the same university by submitting her thesis titled "Feminism as a Theory of Criticism and Its Reflections on Art: Feminist Art". In 2010, she completed the Proficiency in Art Program in the Department of Painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University by submitting her thesis titled "The Body as an Anti-Aesthetic Form in Plastic Arts from Dada to the Present". Receiving the title of Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor in 2019, Korkmaz currently works as a faculty member and Head of the Department of Visual Arts at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Art and Design. Having held a total of 10 solo exhibitions, including 6 in Turkey and 4 abroad, she has participated in symposia and workshops, and her paintings have been featured in numerous national and international group exhibitions, juried exhibitions, and auctions. Furthermore, having many works in private collections as well as public institutions and organizations, Korkmaz has received six awards from painting competitions and institutions. F. Deniz Korkmaz draws upon a multi-layered structure in which the figure creates different meanings. The heterogeneous structure within the conceptual context caused by the existence of the artwork is one of the reasons that drives new inquiries and expansions. The primary reasons constituting the basis of Korkmaz's artistic problematics are: looking from a new perspective at occurrences that are unconscious, taken for granted, or defined as ordinary; making it possible to question things whose questioning has been postponed on a two-dimensional plane regarding verbal or non-verbal "self" dialogues between the same or different genders; and sometimes providing wordless answers through the possibilities of the material. Her figurative expression, which has been the main context since the beginning of Korkmaz's art history, has begun to diversify in recent years by focusing on the theme of nature. Due to a scientific yet artistic project she directed on bird species seen in and around the provinces of Eskişehir, Bursa, and Bileci̇k, she has focused on bird species living in cities. Alongside small birds whose presence we mostly fail to notice around us, plant species trapped in cities are re-depicted within the expressionist possibilities of art in a harmonious coexistence. In large-scale figure works diversified with human figures alongside plant and bird species within a fantastic fiction accompanied by an abstract expressionist background, she presents the concepts of body, identity, gender, and power in symbolic forms, thereby bringing indirect criticisms to all kinds of authority through these concepts.
