HAKAN ERASLAN

In his solo exhibition titled "Sessizliğin Yankısı", Hakan Eraslan invites the viewer to cleanse themselves of the noise of the modern world and journey into that ancient geography hidden in the most secluded corners of the soul. The artist reinterprets the concepts of Melankoli and Persona, which we followed in his previous exhibitions, this time with the meticulousness of a musician and the tactile sensitivity of a sculptor.

Eraslan’s canvases are not a lament for humanity’s detachment from nature, but a lyrical homage to its re-existence within nature. Swallows taking flight from the hair of the figures, flowers blooming on their skin, and melodies spilling from their fingertips whisper that existence only gains meaning when in harmony with nature. The aesthetic understanding that the artist filters from the patience of the olive tree carries the traces of timelessness in every brushstroke.

The "Nilüferler" series, which forms another important layer of the exhibition, is the meditative center of this inner geography. The tangible connection the artist establishes with the olive tree manifests itself this time in his water lily depictions applied on wooden panels. The tranquility on the surface of the water and the pure beauty of these flowers born from the swamp symbolize the peace the human soul attains by filtering through its own chaos. The emergence of the water lilies from the swamp toward the light deepens the theme of transformation and healing in the manifesto's 'Geography of the Soul'.

This exhibition pursues not only what is seen with the eye, but what is felt and heard. The vibrations emanating from the body of a cello, combined with the mysterious sleep of the water lilies beneath the water, offer the viewer a meditative space. Rather than idealizing his figures, Eraslan positions them as instruments of nature.

Opening at Galeri Soyut on April 3, the exhibition is preparing to accompany the seasonal transformation of the soul with the first light of April. "Sessizliğin Yankısı" is an effort to silence the outside world for a moment so that a person can hear their own inner voice. This precious accumulation of the artist, covering the years 2025-2026, invites the viewer to share in that great echo within the silence.
