Silent Witnesses of Migration: A Space for Reflection on Humanity, Memory, and Space by Ferit Yazıcı

Galeri Soyut is hosting the sculpture exhibition titled "Sessizliğin Yankısı – Veni Vidi Mansi" by Ferit Yazıcı between November 14 – 26, 2025. Drawing on his personal migration experience, the artist presents an in-depth contemporary art narrative on memory, belonging, silence, and the responsibility of being human.

In Yazıcı's works, materials such as wood, metal, and steel wire make the tension between form and void visible, interpreting the themes of loss, rootlessness, and re-existence brought about by migration in a metaphorical language. Each sculpture leaves a testimony echoing within silence, a trace of human inner journey.

Veni Vidi Mansi: "I Came, I Saw, I Stayed"

"Veni Vidi Mansi" (I Came, I Saw, I Stayed) in the exhibition title is a concise expression of the artist's 36-year migration adventure. While transforming this adventure from an individual story into a universal human experience, Yazıcı interprets the concept of "staying" not as existing in a physical space, but as staying in memory, silence, and the consciousness of being human.

The works do not merely offer an aesthetic experience; they invite the viewer to an ethical questioning. Extending from the traces of migration to collective memory, this narrative recalls the reality that no one is superior to anyone else and the fragile nature of humanity.

Each sculpture is, on one hand, a reflection of the artist's personal memory, and on the other hand, a self-confrontation of the viewer. The echo of silence resonates here in both the past and the shared memory of humanity.

The Dialogue of Sculpture, Architecture, and Space

There is a continuous dialogue between sculpture and architecture in Ferit Yazıcı's art. The artist constructs the relationship between volume and void like a "living space"; he makes the viewer a part of the work.
