DEVRİM ERBİL (1937), eserleri Galeri Soyut arşivinde yer alan sanatçılardandır. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 127 eseri ve 18 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 1993–2025). Devrim Erbil was born in Uşak in 1937 and is one of the most important contemporary representatives of Turkish painting. Completing his primary and secondary education in Balıkesir, Erbil entered the Painting Department of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1955. He studied by working in the studios of important artists such as Halil Dikmen and Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. After graduating in 1960, he worked as an assistant at the same academy and continued his academic career.

Erbil's art begins with abstractions inspired by nature and possessing a linear character. His works, which focused on nature and tree motifs in the early 1960s, gradually evolved into linear compositions abstracted from a bird's-eye perspective. He frequently used the rhythmic structure of nature and the urban landscapes of Istanbul as subjects in his works; his admiration for the towns and nature of Anatolia was strongly felt in his paintings. Beginning in the 1970s, he reached wide audiences with his works themed "Anatolian Impressions" and "Istanbul," addressing figure and nature themes with a more abstract approach during this period.

The artist used the line as an aesthetic element in its own right and combined this linear structure with dynamic compositions dominated by color, particularly shades of blue. It is observed that abstracted forms of cities, birds, and nature play a major role in Erbil's paintings. Especially his works taking the silhouette of Istanbul as a subject reflect the soul of the city down to the finest detail.

Devrim Erbil has taken part in many important national and international art events and has held more than 60 solo exhibitions throughout his artistic life. Also known for his contributions to art education, Erbil served as a professor at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts for many years. The artist's works are found in domestic and foreign collections, and he continues his unique style in original printmaking, stained glass, and carpet designs. Still living in Istanbul, Erbil serves as a faculty member at Doğuş University and continues to produce art.

In Devrim Erbil's art, although the influence of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu is clearly seen, he is accepted as one of the important figures of modern Turkish painting with his unique linear and rhythmic structure.
