He also received the third-place prize in the competition organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. In 2004, he won another Achievement Award at the 65th State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition. This diversity in his awards demonstrates that his art gathers widespread appreciation.

Orhan Umut brings intellectual depth to his works, particularly on the aesthetics and meaning of public spaces. Umut produces works that question the encounters of social and cultural identities in the public sphere and how these spaces are shaped. Umut's works offer a feedback mechanism on how individual identities affect dynamics within the community. These themes ensure that his works possess not only artistic but also sociopolitical content.

Having opened more than fifty solo exhibitions in his career, the artist examines how public spaces change over time and how these spaces are reinterpreted for people, while addressing the aesthetic and philosophical questions brought about by modern society and urbanization in his works.
