AHMET YEŞİL

AHMET YEŞİL (1954), Galeri Soyut’un temsil ettiği sanatçılardan biridir. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 474 eseri ve 60 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 1994–2024). Ahmet Yeşil was born in Mersin in 1954 and is one of the leading figures in Turkish painting. He received his art education between 1973 and 1985 from important names such as Nuri Abaç, İlhan Çevik, and Ernür Tüzün. Yeşil graduated from the Department of Sociology at Anadolu University in 2015.

Drawing attention with figurative works in the early period of his art career, Yeşil experienced his "Figure Period" between 1980 and 1989, focusing on the themes of women and children. Starting from the 1990s, inspired by his passion for the sea and his mother being a tailor, he concentrated on rope and cord imagery. He has used these images to express social, societal, and personal themes in his art. The artist's rope and cord-themed works can be evaluated as a reflection of his subconscious and longings for the past.

Ahmet Yeşil has opened 141 solo exhibitions and participated in 315 group exhibitions to date. He has won 24 awards in national and international competitions. His works are included in important collections in countries such as Germany, the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, and the UK, as well as in Turkey.

The artist is represented by Galeri Soyut and continues his work in his studio in Mersin. In addition to important exhibitions in Turkey, he has participated in many significant exhibitions abroad. He won the Silver Medal at the Carrousel du Louvre exhibition held at the Louvre Museum in 2011. Ahmet Yeşil's art holds an important place in the development of modern painting in Turkey.
