Mürşide İçmeli's art has been significantly influenced by Anatolian cultural layers, Hittite, Seljuk, and archaic periods. In her painting, the problematics of the universe, the world, the macrocosm, and the microcosm both create a mystery and serve science and art. İçmeli’s painting is abstract. Alongside the geometry in her paintings, she also resorts to figures. The figures are related to the concept of humanity. The compositional construction, which leaves a symmetrical, schematic effect, is distinguished by the mathematical language she creates in variations and while repeating herself. İçmeli, who always carries her Eastern identity within her, approaches tradition, an old thought, or a new subject always from the same distance with the data and concepts of a contemporary perspective. Mürşide İçmeli experienced all these depths and pursuits mostly through the processes of printmaking works in the workshops at the Gazi Education Institute. After 1970, illustration took a prominent place in her fields of work. As a result of the cooperation between the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Europe, she took part in English and French commissions and worked in the field of book illustration. In 1974, depending on this project, she conducted research and investigations in European cities such as Paris, London, York, Leeds, Munich, etc., and engaged in book graphic design. This work continued until the completion of the program in 1977. In 1979, she carried out works such as poster designs, invitations, brochures, etc. for the State Opera and Ballet. She received her proficiency in art in 1985 and the title of professor in 1986. She retired in 1986 from the institution, which was renamed Gazi Education Faculty, and moved to Bilkent University Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. Here, she took an active role in the establishment of the Graphic Design Department. In international events she attended with her artist identity, she found the opportunity to get to know the ancient civilizations of the Middle East, Europe, the Far East, and America. These experiences were reflected in her art. Since 1995, her productivity and fruitful contributions to art have continued in her private studio. Mürşide İçmeli's works are also filled with the contents of the twentieth century. Scientific discoveries, changes, and continuities that fit into very short periods evoke some atomic modules in her images, and some brain hemispheres. The figures located within the formal limitations of cramped, narrowing areas seem to question the destinies of the human masses of the twentieth century once again. The human destiny questioned with different teachings and forms in Anatolian lands for 10 thousand years is also reflected in Mürşide İçmeli's designs that carry the images of the social subconscious to the present day. The fact that the color element is felt predominantly in her recent works is related to today, to what is being lived.²
