He was born in Sivas in 1952. He completed his primary education in Sivas, and his secondary and higher education in Ankara. His interest in painting began during his childhood years. During his high school education, he became a student of Eşref Üren, receiving his close interest and encouragement; his first painting attempts were with oil pastel and Indian ink. He dealt with cartooning for a while, and later was introduced to watercolor in 1985. After starting to paint in watercolor, he became passionate about this painting technique and predominantly produced works using only this technique. The artist states that in his works, he prioritizes the poetic and transparent texture of watercolor. In 1993, he began giving his first watercolor painting lessons; he currently gives watercolor lessons in various art galleries in Ankara and Istanbul. Stating that he has trained many students to date, the artist has today become one of the leading names in watercolor painting in our country. He has numerous followers both nationwide and abroad. The artist has participated in many group exhibitions and has also held 58 solo exhibitions, primarily in Ankara, as well as in Istanbul, İzmir, Mersin, and also abroad in Japan. Furthermore, the artist has participated in art fairs and festivals held primarily in Ankara, as well as in Istanbul, Antalya, and the town of Fabriano in Italy. In 2014, at the Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial held in China, out of 3,800 watercolor painters participating from many countries around the world, he was the only painter from Turkey to make it into the catalog among the 280 painters selected. Additionally, an interview with the artist was featured in 2015 in The Art of Watercolour, one of the world's most prestigious watercolor magazines published in France. Today, the artist's works are included in many important collections, primarily in Turkey, as well as in the USA, England, Germany, Japan, France, Switzerland, and Estonia. The artist's name is also mentioned in the book History of Turkish Watercolor Art published by the Ministry of Culture.
