TOLGA BOZTOPRAK

Tolga Boztoprak’s solo exhibition titled “Anadolu’dan Görünüler–2 / Umuda Yolculuk” is on view at Galeri Soyut / Çankaya between January 23 – February 4, 2026. Consisting of the artist's recent landscape works, the exhibition approaches nature not merely as a depicted scenery, but as a spiritual space thought together with the concepts of time, memory, and journey.

Human figures are mostly absent in Boztoprak’s paintings; however, the traces of humanity's relationship with nature are strongly felt. Fields, valleys, mountain ranges, and roads stretching to the horizon are the silent witnesses of humanity's relationship with nature. These landscapes signify a state where humanity withdraws from nature and occasionally becomes alienated from it, rather than a state of harmony where it is articulated into it.

The imagery of trains and roads that stand out in the exhibition draw attention as symbolic equivalents of the flow of time and the idea of an endless journey. The tracks winding through nature point to the temporary and fragile contacts between humanity and nature. This contact is neither entirely harmonious nor completely conflicting; on the contrary, it reflects a state of constant search.

The title "Umuda Yolculuk" summarizes the core emotion spreading throughout the entire exhibition. Even within challenging geographies and lonely landscapes, Boztoprak’s paintings do not surrender to pessimism; they build a silent yet strong sense of hope through the resistance and continuity of nature.
