He was born in Amasya in 1976. After beginning his art education with Hürrem Özerden in 1999, he turned entirely to painting. He settled in İstanbul in 2004. The tulip field paintings he created in the early years of his artistic life became almost his signature at that time. Later, he began creating a different synthesis of contemporary art and tradition. He brought together the verses of a thousand-year-old Turkish poetry with Kufic script, to which he brought a new interpretation, with original colors and forms. Murat Kurt aims to express the extraordinarily rich aesthetic accumulation of Turkish culture and art heritage with contemporary art by interpreting it in the form of painting, sculpture, installation, mechanical sculpture, digital art, and NFT. We see trials of absolute abstraction and infinity adorned with ancient words in the works of Kurt, who is a master of an artistic thought that can be summarized as transforming the word into color. Expressing both the past and the present, yet appealing to eternity. Having made a splash in the national and international press with the exhibitions he has held to date, Kurt's works are included in many collections. The artist continues his work in his studio in Beylerbeyi, İstanbul.
