AZİMET KARAMAN

AZİMET KARAMAN (1963), Galeri Soyut’un temsil ettiği sanatçılardan biridir. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 265 eseri ve 36 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2014–2024). Azimet Karaman was born in 1963 in the Kemah district of Erzincan. He began his art education journey by graduating from Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics and Glass in 1988. During this period, he drew attention particularly with his negative relief works on glass, and consolidated his competence in this field by working at the Paşabahçe Glass Factory between 1988 and 1989.

In 1995, he obtained a teaching certificate by receiving pedagogical formation training at the Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education, Institute of Educational Sciences. Thus, by combining his art with education, he found the opportunity to continue his artist identity also as an educator.

Karaman has participated in numerous exhibitions both at home and abroad, opened seven solo exhibitions, and taken part in over a hundred group exhibitions. He has made a name for himself internationally by participating in group exhibitions organized by the Anatolian Artists Association in countries such as France, Germany, Albania, and Belgium. He has six open-air sculpture installations in various cities of Turkey, which he worked on collectively.

One of Karaman's most notable projects is the Martyred Diplomats Monument that he realized in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. This monument holds the distinction of being the first monument realized by Turkey abroad and is accepted as one of Karaman's important contributions to the art world.

Today, Karaman teaches sculpture and ceramics classes at the Mustafa Ayaz Museum of Plastic Arts, while simultaneously serving as the Director of the Gazi University Painting and Sculpture Museum. In addition, he continues his academic career as a faculty member in the Department of Fine Arts Education, Painting Education Division at the Gazi Faculty of Education. Azimet Karaman has left significant traces with his art both in Turkey and on international platforms, and is remembered as one of the leading figures of contemporary art.
