Biography
GÜLAY YÜKSEL (1951), eserleri Galeri Soyut arşivinde yer alan sanatçılardandır. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 81 eseri ve 6 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2016–2024). Sitedeki eserlerinde en çok görülen teknikler: Tuval üzeri yağlı boya, Tuval üzeri akrilik boya. Eserleri hakkında bilgi ve fiyat için galeriye danışabilirsiniz.
Gülay Yüksel was born in 1951, began her art education at Gazi Education Institute, Department of Painting and Crafts, and graduated from there in 1973. She completed her undergraduate education at Eskişehir Anadolu University. At one point in her career, Yüksel interned at a school in Neuwied, Germany, that provided painting and modeling education to the visually impaired. This experience broadened her perspective on art education. She also worked as a lecturer at the METU Department of Fine Arts for many years and is a board member of BRHD (United Painters and Sculptors Association).
The artist has held 44 solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, 5 of which took place in Germany. Her paintings are on display at the Ankara State Museum of Painting and Sculpture and the İzmir State Museum of Painting and Sculpture. Consisting generally of figurative works, Yüksel continues her practice in her studio. In recent times, her works have focused particularly on compositions where figures and abstraction come together.
Gülay Yüksel's art is full of profound meanings and symbols. While it is notable that figures are used as metaphors for life in her paintings, her experimental work with color and texture demonstrates her continuous search for innovation in her art. The artist's works aim to offer the viewer a different perspective.
Yüksel’s exhibitions at Galeri Soyut have introduced her unique artistic approach to broader audiences, contributing to her gaining an important place in the contemporary art world in Turkey. Still working actively today, the artist continues to make a name for herself in the art community with her original and impressive works
