METİN KALKIZOĞLU

METİN KALKIZOĞLU (1986), eserleri Galeri Soyut arşivinde yer alan sanatçılardandır. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 100 eseri ve 22 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2012–2019). He was born in Eskişehir in 1986. In 2014, he graduated from the Painting Department of Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts. He continues his work in his studio in Eskişehir.

Considering different elements such as the inclusion of a small number of figures in his works, the details in his figures, the space they occupy on the canvas and their positions, as well as the background of the painting, the resulting minimalism and the simplicity reflected by this minimalism enable the viewer to ascribe symbolic meanings to these figures. The figures, usually brought to the foreground of the canvas, appear as if they want to tell us something. In this regard, if the foggy sky covering the background, the disappearing sun, dry trees, timeless spaces, and the foreground are likened to the distinction between consciousness and the subconscious/unconscious, we can say that Kalkızoğlu actually presents the viewer with a limited number of symbolic figures brought to the conscious plane and asks the viewer to communicate specifically with these figures.
