Ekin Yüksel was born in Ankara in 1986. Between 2000 and 2004, she studied at the Painting Department of Ankara Anatolian Fine Arts High School. She completed her undergraduate education at the Ceramics Department of Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2009. Having participated in various solo and group exhibitions since the beginning of her education life, the artist continues her work in her own studio. "Ceramics is being in communication with the essence.. Soil is the place from which man was created and to where he will return. The duality of the place where we exist and where we cease to exist being the same, the firing of man and soil to reach their final form and evolve. The Innocent Girls series is created with reference to Lilith, who was created from the soil equally like him, rather than from Adam's rib. For this reason, a connection is established between the sculptures and clay, the material from which the free female body is created. Contrary to the bad epithets attributed to Lilith's pursuit of the ideas of freedom and equality, the works are approached with a stance that is the exact opposite of this view. The Innocent Girls focuses on bodies that harbor both the fragility and the strength of woman.”
