ERTUĞRUL ATEŞ

ERTUĞRUL ATEŞ (1954), eserleri Galeri Soyut arşivinde yer alan sanatçılardandır. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 3 eseri ve 2 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 2021–2023). Ertuğrul Ateş was born in Adana in 1954.
In 1976, he graduated from the Painting Department of Gazi Education Institute. The same year, he went to England and continued his education at London Kingsway Princeton College and Bethnal Green Institution.
He opened his first exhibition in Istanbul in 1980. In 1987, he moved to America, settling in New York, and continued his work there until 2006. In 2004, he wrote and directed the Hürrem Sultan dance show. He was invited to the 2006 Beijing Olympics Biennale. He has realized numerous artistic events both in Turkey and abroad. Accepted into the museums of Beijing and Taiwan, the artist has held numerous exhibitions and events in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, South Hampton, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, and Adana. The artist lives and works in Izmir-Çeşme.

Also known as the "Ribbon Painter", Ertuğrul Ateş says, "My paintings do not offer solutions, they do not teach lessons; they softly whisper incomprehensible things to your ears." Explaining that art, that is, creativity, makes life meaningful, Ateş describes his perspective on art and the artist as follows: "Except for death, you can only attain divinity by creating. Therefore, the approaching 2nd Renaissance indicates that the 21st century will belong to artists."
