Zeynel Abidin Koşarca (b. 1994, Adana) is an artist and academic who creates figurative sculptures by shaping sheet metal using the cold-forging technique. He graduated from the Painting and Crafts Education program at the Faculty of Education of Harran University in 2016; he completed his master's degree in 2020 at Gazi University with a thesis on the impact of modeling studies on learning outcomes in basic design courses. He has been pursuing his doctoral studies at the same university since 2022.
His working method is based on shaping metal directly on the anvil by hammering, without pre-heating or softening it. He turns to the cultural memory of Anatolia as a subject; dervishes, shepherds, and folk types are among his recurring figures. He cites Alberto Giacometti and Auguste Rodin as the main references for his sculptural understanding.
He opened his first solo exhibition in Istanbul in 2022; he has participated in numerous group exhibitions, fairs, and workshops domestically. He works as a research assistant in the Department of Painting and Crafts Education at Ankara Music and Fine Arts University and maintains his studio in Ankara.
