Born in Istanbul in 1917, Ahmet Fahir Aksoy is recognized as one of the most important representatives of the naive painting movement in Turkey, alongside his identity as a journalist and writer. Continuing his education in institutions such as Işık High School and Edirne High School, the artist developed his own style without receiving academic training in painting and transformed his naive sensibility into a professional artistic language.

Processing the daily life of Anatolia, folk tales, and mystical elements in his art with a sincere language, Aksoy also spearheaded the establishment of the Naive Painters Association. Having also worked as a documentary film director, the artist presented color and form in his works with a poetic and fairy-tale-like composition, far from academic rules. The legacy of the artist, who passed away in Istanbul on November 10, 2008, maintains its relevance through his deep bond with folk art.
