ORHAN TAYLAN (1941), eserleri Galeri Soyut arşivinde yer alan sanatçılardandır. Galeri Soyut sitesinde sanatçının 5 eseri ve 6 sergisi kayıtlı (eserlerin tarih aralığı 1997–2003). Orhan Taylan was born in Samsun in 1941. In 1960, he graduated from Istanbul American Robert College. Pursuant to the law introduced by the military coup regime of May 27, 1960, he applied to fulfill his military service as a reserve officer-teacher. He taught for two years in Sazlıköy, Söke. Going to Italy in 1962, he entered the Rome Academy of Fine Arts and researched mural techniques. After graduating from the Rome Academy in 1966 and returning to Turkey, he joined the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP). He undertook the visual works of TİP and various labor unions. He designed the famous May Day poster, which began to be used with the representation of the world held in the palm of a hand.
He collaborated on various projects with sculptor Kuzgun Acar and cartoonist Tan Oral. The May Day poster he drew won first prize in the international trade union posters competition held in Prague. He made his first mural at the Antalya International Art Festival held in 1976. He was elected President of the Visual Artists Association. Being one of the founders and board members of the Peace Association, he was arrested in 1982 due to a lawsuit filed by a military court. Taylan, who was arrested a second time in the same trial, was released in 1986. His works were exhibited in cities such as London, Amsterdam, and Moskova between 1988 and 1990. During this period, he focused on oil paintings; he organized exhibitions at his studio in Istanbul. He opened numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions.
