Nurettin Ergüven develops a figuration reinforced by abstractionist interests in his compositional variations that appear based on experimentation. The vast majority of his works consist of studies made from nature. These regional landscapes, equipped with mystical connotations, are among the most interesting landscape interpretations of Turkish painting.

Ergüven's bold compositional pursuits, realized under the command of a colorist and formalist will and reminiscent of Cézanne, essentially become clear as determinations related to depth on the picture surface established with dynamic brushwork, and a painting concept integrated with the landscape expresses itself as an original formaling attitude. The importance he attaches to the problem of structure, volumetric interests toward object and figure, and a rapid pictorial action reminiscent of improvisation despite all concerns for order contain the true clues of Ergüven's artistic attitude.
